Is There a Nationalization of the Railroads?

A lot of the non worker experts I've talked to, including shippers and their representatives just want to see more competition. They want to break them monopoly quasi monopoly stranglehold that these four or five companies have. For that to happen you would need some form of either nationalization of the tracks or massively increased regulation of the tracks. So cut more competition could be good for workers but there's also a situation where it could be bad.
