The Flight Data Recorder and the Pilot's Attitude Indicator
There was a manufacturing discrepancy in the vertical barrel gyro rotor synchronizer wiring, which resulted in a short circuit. Investigators realized the flight data recorder was getting faulty roll data because it was reading its data from the captain's attitude indicator. Those quick rolls and that quick snapping left and right, that wasn't actually happening. The pilots weren't like whipping the plane around left and right. They were, you know, slowly banking more and more in each direction. But they didn't realize how far they had banked until they kept banking to a point where the plane became unrecoverable.
