The Five-Factor Model of Maladaptive Traits
The five-factor model of maladaptive traits is similar to the alternative model in DSM-5 except for the traits would be normal range and bipolar rather than maladaptive and unipolar. The problem with this strategy is it's never been shown that you can take a model like that and fit five factors to it because what ends up happening is the tails of that distribution both have problems in them. I've come to the conclusion that the best thing we could do at the moment would be a two-part model with the first part being dysfunctions these dysfunctions tend to be really highly correlated as I mentioned but so far those dysfunctions haven't really been articulated theoretically or
