The Death of Sonda Diaz
The criminal investigation of Sonda Diaz death concluded in July 2020 with a recommendation that the members would be charged with negligent homicide, humiliation and premeditated administration of dangerous substances. The 18 members were now scheduled to appear in court to finally start the trial September 4th of 2020. However, at the last minute, two defense attorneys filed a request for additional investigations. It is speculated they did this on purpose as a delay tactic. They thought he's just some black guy. We're powerful and nothing can happen to us. What would have happened if Sonda were white? Eventually, the protests died down and everyone held their breaths, hoping that justice would be served.
