The Challenges of a Seven Cent Vaccine

BCG is well established as a treatment of bladder cancer. There's also all these very tantalizing studies that suggest that it has an impact on preventing cancer as well as treating cancer. But if it's a seven cent vaccination, the existing incentive structures and the existing funding structures are very challenged by that. We really have to be somebody philanthropic stepping up to the plate in a huge way willing to fund a really ambitious and fairly long-term study.
