The London Review of Books' fax machine is now behind glass in a museum. Fax machines were crucial to the life of an office at that time, writes Tom Hiddleston. They appeared some point in the 80s and disappeared by the end of the 90s. The bleep and thud and thunk of those machines as this spot, written material, was part of the everyday life of a magazine then. So, the machine itself is a repository of hopes and dreams.
