You need to know the nurse. You need to sort of understand whether they have the knowledge and skills to give those discharge instructions. The studies are quite clear that people don't understand the discharge instructions often. Just giving someone a piece of paper is generally not good enough. I think it's just good care to personally verbalize good discharge instructions.
