The Innocence of Christ
Christ's innocence for Gerard is a strong reason to believe that he is the one true God because of his perfection. He withstands temptations. He never wrongs anyone. And unlike Old Testament victims who may have minor flaws like Joseph's hubris, for example, Christ is perfectly innocent. But it's not just the perfection of his innocence, but a perfection of that innocence in the least hospitable environment which Gerard thinks is so notable.
