Adorno predicted his own marginalization through depiction of beady-eyed intellectuals in films that you then don't identify with and discount everything they have to say. It's not quite exactly this kind of critical theory, but think about the scene in Goodwill Hunting, where Will is confronts the guy who's hitting on a mini driver's character. You don't alienate a good portion of our audience. Come on.
