The History of Fish and Chips in the UK

Fish and chips are an important part of UK food culture. The practice of frying fish in batter was introduced to the UK in the 16th century by Jewish immigrants from Spain and Portugal. Their Pescado Frito was quickly adopted into British cooking. And it was even mentioned in Charles Dickens' famous book, All of Our Twist.
