I see it as a material risk to the democracy itself if people cannot learn how to understand each other beyond the surface and the polarize ton. I think it's fair to say at the moment that in no meaningful way do we the people exist in the united states of america. And i'm not romantic either, as an old community organizer, i certainly have no illusions about, wouldn't it be nice if everybody got along? Every everybody won't get along, but we have fallen right now from the sort of minimal expectation that we will take time and put energy into listening deeply to one another.
