How to Control Email Spam in an E-Cash System

The real problem is that email is effectively free, or extremely low cost. And so people can generally, you know, spam and to an enormous extent just as a nuisance. One of the things I implemented which later became used by Bitcoin was the proof of work stamp. We got used later for a number of other systems like for more expensive stamp for creating a pseudonym in order to prevent click fraud.
