The covenant is a legal contract and God is bringing forth the contract. He's helping people to realize there should be no surprise when bad things happen. Every week at sacrament that bread and water we talked about, God wants you back in. So do not despair about what you've done in the past have hope that if you turn to God, He will cleanse all the pain and suffering that you have caused yourself or others.
