i'm going to sandwich these thoughts on the gettysburg address with a couple of personal stories, or one anyway. My ancestors were not americans when this was written. In a way, i have no dog in this fight. And yet, as someone who was born here and who believes in America, it is my fight. So we'll talk about that. But mostly we're going to stick to literature and history and not con temporary politics. Ex except to the extent that the great american spirit x, my too many xes, is still on going.
