There are legends of dark skinned people in southern China, right? It seems like that was probably true and these people probably did persist on the edge of historical time. So populations move out of South China, rice culture populations, Austro-Asiatic inland, and then the coastal areas, Austronesian, and they mix with these indigenous people. The linguistic and ethnic diversity of Southeast Asia, it's actually rooted in the, to some extent, in South China.
