Ford's Modernism
Modernism is famously a retrospective category that we read back into the period. Ford sees himself as kind of carrying on in that line. And it's odd because in some ways you can see that as that sort of bridging movement between Victorian realism and modernism. But it's also carrying on alongside modernism too in quite a complicated way.
