Russian Su-27 Missile Released in International Airspace
Russia acknowledged that it happened in international airspace and said after an investigation that it was a technical malfunction of the SU-27. Ben Wallace told Parliament yesterday that he had communicated his concerns directly to his Russian counterpart, Sergey Shoyu. I cannot think of any incident where a missile, undemanded by the pilot, has come off the rails in the air. And you know, there are multiple switches required. The pilot has to make a number of selections in order to get a missile rather than encouraging you to release one on a whim. But even I know that these things don't just coming off the rails, missiles don’t come off the rail just because they're not fitted
