Depression - What Is the System Doing?
We think about mood as like feelings of being pleasant or unpleasant, feeling worked up, feeling calm. These are not emotions because they're with you every waking moment of your life. They're the feelings that come from just your body working the way it works. So let's use an example of depression. Why am I depressed? Or what is the system doing? Yeah. Because the body is moving resources elsewhere. The body is not... Because digestion is a set of motor movements. And that movement is less efficient. We're putting in the framework of constructive emotions here.
