The ancient practice of stoic philosophy as a way of life and rational form of spirituality is still alifeepictetus, the freed slave turned philosopher. Our choices about how to interpret those events will shape the faculty of choice that ultimately determines our character and guides our lives toward virtue and well being. The greatest stoic teaching of all is the wisdom and peace of mind that comes from understanding that it is not events themselves that disturb us, but our thoughts about those events.
