The Virtuous Cycle of Teaching and Metacognition
Teaching has this dynamic where there should be this virtuous cycle of because we're forced to lay our cars on the table we can't hide behind misplaced feelings of confidence in our knowledge then that should provide this rapid self-correction. It also provides this broader opportunity for a third person perspective on ourselves so by teaching in a sense we almost become forced to become our own coaches. There was some really clever experimental work done by ashukori at who's a leading metacognition researcher in israel and he demonstrated this the power of a third person perspectives for disabusing us of these illusions of fluency or illusions of confidence.
