The History of Interest Rates

Interest rates date back to the third millennia b c, in the ancient neres in mesopotamia. The origin of interest appears to be in the reproduction of live stock. Americans in the nineteenth century were lending out cattle and expecting a return on their investment. We find that merchants who went on am on seafaring voyages, raising money with loads, were paying higher interest because of the risk involved in their project.
