Diocletian took the hint the gods sent him and ordered a stop to the massacre he was intending to unleash on the alexandrians. By the end of two 97, though, the revolt was nipped in the bud. And the emperor could turn his attention back to the persian problem. When it became obvious that the persian king was not going to invade and press his luck inside roman territory, the emperors decided to take the fight to him.
