Muller's Meditation on Emptiness and Suffering

It takes maller almost seven minutes to do this, and we have approximately 18 minutes left to go in this movement. Muller even adds to the emptiness by specifying to the first violins that they play without any expression. In the emptiness of the b section is so striking that it seems it could go on forever. But maller tenderly and gently eases us back to the a section with a perfect tempo relationship. If that's done right, the b music melts into the corral music - as if this meditation on emptiness and suffering gave birth to it all over again.
