I suppose it feels like you know having open borders would change people's lives a lot more than sending even 5 or 10% of their income overseas potentially. I mean obviously foreign aid and reality is tiny so maybe that helps to explain why in reality people don't. But even so yeah it just feels like losing some percentage of your income feels like less fundamental than maybe they would say like having the culture of the place that you live changed massively in a way that you're opposed to. It seems like really similar but there's such a different reaction. You don't have groups who are actively organized against you.
