The Effects of Catharsis on the Brain
When he was teaching at Ashland in the 70s, I think, or, yeah, and I was called scholar in residence. And so they gave me room and board to lead a group twice a week where people could come from the community or from seminarians. And I noticed an interesting thing. When I worked with the Monday group, there was a lot of catharsis,. But on Thursday, that wouldn't happen. People also seemed to be more shut down. Later research showed that they're they involve almost identical parts of the brain. So I had think what was happening is people were getting addicted to catharsis.
