The hermit stole from a camp for children and adults with disabilities in Maine. He would borrow a canoe to steal big stuff, then sprinkle pine needles all over it so it looked like it hadn't been moved. Pine tree camp opened its gates in 1945 as a summer camp for children with physical disabilities.
