From 2007 to 2012, there was an average of almost 2000 gang related homicides per year. In LA County in 2012, 60% of all homicides were gang related. America has a bigger problem total numbers wise with street gangs than any other country in the world. The nation of 6.5 million people has by some estimates up to 500,000 people with gang ties. Los Angeles is estimated to have over 120,000 gang members just inside the city limits.
