A German pediatrician named Otto Ulrich had actually published a case study of an eight year old with the same suite of characteristics that Turner had described. It was only in 1959 that genetic technology and imaging had advanced to the point where researchers at all were able to link cases of Turner syndrome with the presence of only one X.
