Fise May West - A Woman of the City
May was born in brooklyn in 18 93, about seven years before what she usually gave us her birth date. She began appearing on stage in amateur talent shows as a small child and would sing and do impressions of well known vaudeville personalities. Her characters often lived out a cinderella style story, transforming from a low social position to a high one - but without changing her inherent street wise, tough talking character.
