Jeff Pearlman: We've been dealing with heat for a long time now. Are we better prepared for it than we have been in the past? He says there are different degrees of adaptation to heat. One story is seeing what's going on in Los Angeles where they're experimenting with painting city streets white instead of black or a brighter color, he says. Pearlman: In cities trees are being kind of rediscovered and places like Phoenix are undertaking enormous tree planting programs which add a lot of relief.
