The Importance of Logistics in the Middle East
In the first eight months of 1942, through this route, the British will transport 192, 192,000 men, 581 tanks, 1700 guns, 13,000 vehicles and almost 250,000 tons of supplies to their forces in the Middle East via this route. The Italians would seemingly have a much easier task to perform. But there are a number of potential problems that could interdict this,. First of all, is the poor state of the Italian merchant fleet. Second, a potential factor that can complicate their supply operations: Malta.
