I think that one thing that can feel dissonant for people who are first coming into a lot of these spaces is that the people who seem to have the loudest voices and saying hey you shouldn't care about all of these title things yeah. I think reflecting on it to what you said about having the goal being I'd like to meet interesting people people who intrinsically care about the things that I intrinsically care about is a much healthier way of thinking about that goal than I want to get to the top of top of hacker news.
