The Republicans Don't Want to Rake the Debt Ceiling
In 1939, on the eve of World War II, it was kind of obvious that we were heading in that direction. That's when they changed the debt ceiling from individual maturities to one overall limit. But now, because we've raised the debt ceiling every time we've neared it or we've suspended it, which was something that started more recently. So who are they kidding? They don't want to do anything about the debt. And even what the Republicans are proposing is nothing compared to what's actually needed.
