The Rise and Fall of Cash

Folsom Fizz & Blues became Cash's second single and one of those songs that would define him for the rest of his career. It went to number four on the country and western chart and established him as a genuine star of country music. Around this time Sun signed Carl Perkins, which caused problems. He resented the way that he was being treated by Phillips as being less important than Perkins. This would be a recurring pattern with Phillips over the next few years. He would discover some new star and whoever his previous favourite was would be convinced that Phillips no longer cared about him anymore. As one by one, his discoveries moved on to other labels that they believed valued them more than Phillips
