Do You Really Need to Tweet Every Day?

How do you get a good balance between not over tweeting and not under tweeting? Do I really need to tweet every day in the first place? What if I don't have something to say every day? Like how necessary is it? If you're tweeting consistently, Twitter's algorithm is more likely to show your stuff.
