Jeffrey Hinton Quits Google to Talk About the Dangers of AI
Jeffrey Hinton quit his job at Google last week to speak out about the dangers of AI. He says he's been contacted by Elon Musk, US Senator Bernie Sanders and the White House because he resigned so he could speak more freely about the risks of AI. Back in the 1970s he started working on neural networks, computer systems that learnt tasks by analysing data. In 2012 he built a network that could identify objects in photos. That research was the foundation of chat GPT and Google's bot,. powerful AI chatbots are stirring up excitement and unease in equal measure.
