"It's very paralyzing for gifted kids, and this is why they'll reject a lot of the hope that people help," he says. "The moment that you accept what they say and if you actually roll the dice and it doesn't work, then you're screwed." He adds: 'Do you want to be a stupid kid with a life, or a gifted kid without one?'
