When Japanese people ran down sort of the wealth, the, you know, the wealth that they had accumulated in like the eighties or whatever, everyone went to work and the government really encouraged everyone to go to work. And so now everyone just works the 60 hour weeks at low productivity jobs, which is good for the economy on paper, but in practice, what it means is no one has time to hang out.
