How to Calculate the Start of Ramadan
Ramadan will cycle through an entire solar year. A new month will start with the appearance of the first crescent, no matter how slim after sunset. The traditional definition of when the start of fasting occurs is when you can differentiate between a white and black thread. Sunni Muslims define sunrise and sunset by the orb of the sun being above or below the horizon.
