How Do We Know About Socrates?
republic is about the question of justice. But as with so many texts, what it's really about is itself. It's interrogating the nature of philosophy and its relationship to greek drama and poetry and rhetoric preceding it. How would you describe the figure of socrates, and how do we know about socrates? I mean, mostly because so much ancient literature is just lost generally.
