The Repurposed Tomb of Tutankhamun
In order to stock the tomb with items Tutankhamun will require in the afterlife, there's no other option but to repurpose pieces from another royal family member. Many of the 5,000 objects from the tomb are only starting to reveal their secrets today. It's widely believed that repurposed items originally belonged to Queen Nefertiti, the wife of Akhenaten. The coffins that house the pharaoh also appear to have reworked faces. There are signs that the death mask was first intended for a woman.
