CHAPTER

The Rise and Fall of Golfing Capital

The Rise and Fall of Golfing Capital is a qualitative case study of former tour golfers. The players that Mark talked to were in their late 20s, early 30s at the time of his study here. They had all been national amateur winners when they were younger. Five of seven of them had played on the English national team. All came from a multi-sport background so there was very much a non-specialisation focus. There was a definite shift to a lot more play orientation around the ages of between, let's say nine to 13. And then slowly as they got older, they started to practice a little bit more and play less.
