The History of the Gipsies in Britain
The gipsy lore society was founded by non roma in 18 88, and they immediately began publishing the journal. It continues down to to day, although it has been renamed roma studies which is more politically correct. There's a common pattern of so called english gipsies, or self described romany gipsies,. really looking down on the irish travellers as outsiders. And this led to some division and friction between people who had been long standing traveller families and clans in britain usually with some connection to the r Roma. The state did very little with Travellers until after world war too.
