Allfed is a group of scientists who are trying to develop technology that can be used to grow food for the world's population. They have been working on their project since 2007, and hope to raise £1billion this year by developing new technologies. But they say it will take many rounds of testing before any real progress can be made. Allfed has raised more than £100million in funding so far - but says its not clear how much could still be saved if all fed at once. The team now hopes to release an open-source version of their research later this year.
