Silicon Valley Bank lost $1.8 billion when it had to sell mortgage securities off of its balance sheet. The bank's stock was down 61% that day and the next day, they were taken over by the FDIC. "Bankers are now going to have to really get their head around what is it that has changed about the deposit base of banking," says David Frum.
