Long COVID and Cognitive Deficits

The syndrome of cognitive impairment contributes substantially to the morbidity of long COVID. In this bit of basic science, the investigators used a mouse model to explore how mild respiratory infections of SARS-CoV-2 could lead to neural inflammation and subsequent brain damage through multilinage, neural cell dysregulation. The activation of microglia, they suggested, was mediated by persistently elevated levels of CCL-11.
