Identity Fusion

Most people see their personal and group identities as quite distinct. But if you are fused with a group, then the boundary between your personal and group identity becomes more porous. People who are highly fused with the group say that they do almost anything to protect their fellow group members. A crucial point to make about identity fusion is that it doesn't necessarily lead to violence.
