I think that as we go through these examples of the real world, we'll see that that's fairly realistic when you have people struggling for power. It strips away a lot of the things that we would recognize as normal humanity. Like hobbies and kindness and compassion. Those get ground under the wheel to use. So yeah, so why are people drawn to these things? Like you said, ego, meaning in life.
