Is There a Civilizational Character in the European Union?

There are major differences in the economies of what we call Eastern Europe, Northern Europe and Southern Europe. Poland and Hungary post Eastern Black states do not have the same economic systems as Spain and Italy. And putting all of those states together in one economic union means that you're going to have conflicts among the interests of those different regions. If it starts to be felt that there is no economic future for them in the European Union, commitment to the EU will fail.
