Is the Stock to Flow Defunct?
The stock to flow model has not performed as well, but that doesn't mean it's defunct. All the derivatives, all that leverage, cut the top off the peak. But ultimately, the derivatives bring even more volatility to to the market. It is just not working as well as it used to, and won't again until we have a free market in interest rates.
